So...This Happened

So, I was on the way out to the post office the other day, to mail the books in my recent Facebook giveaway (click over and join in all the fun we've been having!), when I noticed that a new People mag had hit the stands. Naturally, because I'm a pop culture fiend, I stopped to flip through, even though I'm a subscriber and knew it would be showing up in my mailbox.
Imagine my TOTAL SHOCK, when I saw the above - a wonderful review of THE ONE THAT I WANT!
Now.
I am old and jaded in this industry. There is not a lot that surprises me or a lot that brings me total and complete euphoria anymore, but....oh my lord. I pretty sure I blacked out for the next thirty seconds out of sheer shock. Then, I think I screeched in a way that most likely terrified the poor guy working at the newsstand, and then I called my husband and screamed, "OH MY GOD, I'M IN PEOPLE!," and then I immediately hung up on him because I realized I had other people to call, like my agent, which I then did, and then screamed again, "OH MY GOD, I'M IN PEOPLE!" And then I did this about six other times. All before 9 AM. And then I came home and tried to figure out if I needed a stiff drink or a long run. (I chose the latter, but I really think I could have used the former.)
Anyway, as I said, as you go along in this industry - like any other job - you tend to get blase about things. But this snapped me out of it, and I have since spent the rest of the week just stunned...and grateful for what a lucky gal I am.
