Vaughn Lives!

Just a fun post for the mid-week hump day. As I've said here before, one of my favorite parts of my job is getting a chance to interview/meet some of the celebs whose work I admire and whom I suspect I'd like in real life. And there is no greater example of this than when I interviewed Alias-star Michael Vartan a few months back for the current issue of American Way. (He's starring on the new show, Hawthorne on TNT on Tuesdays - check it out.) Long-time blog readers know that I'm a total J.J. Abrams nut (long live Felicity Porter and Ben Covington!), so I was stoked to chat with Vartan and discover that he was as awesome a guy as I expected. Not to mention that more than a few of you have mentioned that he'd be the perfect Henry for the film version of Time of My Life, which I couldn't agree more with. He's smart, hilarious, a dog fiend (we probably talked about my pooch, Pedro, and his hound, Millie, for 40% of the time), and just as likeable as they come. And thus, the interview promptly shot to the top of my all-time fave interview list, topping even Steve Carell (and Scott Speedman, aka, Ben Covington, whom I also interviewed a few months ago and adored), who until now, held the #1 spot.
So anyway, because we can all use a little diversion to get through the week, here's the piece. Enjoy!

Allison, I can't believe you're that fickle! ;)
OMG. You interviewed Steve Carrell? I love every single thing he has ever touched, even the movies that were panned. I have watched "Little Miss Sunshine" three times. Hope he was as nice in person as he seems to be on screen.
Btw, as a NON-J.J. Abrams nut (not that I have anything against him... I've just never gotten into any of his shows), I blame your blog for the fact that I keep saying "J.J. Abrams" when I'm supposed to say "J.J. Skylar" in the play I'm rehearsing now. Ooh... which brings me to a question, if you have any time: I'm pretty sure you said you used to act, so I wonder how this impacts your writing. I personally feel that the process of really inhabiting a character's skin and FEELING what they are feeling, as an actor, is very similar to writing from inside a character!
Ooh, and can we play "who should play each character in the movie" some time?
